Positive Birth Stories

Reading other mum’s birth stories can be so very helpful when preparing for your own birth. What did they choose and why? How did they work with changes or problems? What worked and what did not? How did it affect the birth using Hypnobirthing skills? Most importantly though it allows you to see that birth can be a positive and life-affirming experience irrespective of the path that that birth took.

So, settle back, have a good read and enjoy.

Laura’s Caesarean — birth with high blood pressure

I’m delighted to say that our little girl Eliza arrived safely on 22 June. As you know, I was induced because of high blood pressure and we actually ended up with a c section because of a possible infection but it was all v calm and we were v well looked after so I look back on the whole experience positively.

I listened to my hypnobirthing tracks throughout the induction process and felt incredibly calm, including during the section. Your walkthrough of what to expect during a section was absolutely invaluable and I credit my calmness to having a good understanding of what was involved, so thank you!

Kristie’s first home birth - a wonderful water birth.

A long time has passed since our course with you in September but I just wanted to let you know that Harley-Beau arrived safely on 15th November 2017 weighing 7lbs 4oz.

For a first time labour it was relatively quick - 9 hours, and my hypnobirthing techniques really helped me manage emotionally and physically for the majority of the labour. He was born at home, in a Birth pool and he was born in his membranes (and I had no tears!! Which I was most scared of!)

Louise’s home birth - using powerful breathing techniques to breathe through her surges.

My labour started on Wednesday evening after I had been to yoga. It felt great to stretch out having done nothing over the Christmas period. I found it very relaxing, focusing on my out breath and making sure I was lengthening it.

I got home had dinner and went to bed about 9pm where I started to get very mild period pains and lower back ache. These became stronger and so I started to wonder if this was the start... I asked my husband to come and lie with me whilst I tried to sleep, however, I was unable to sleep through each mild surge. It wasn't that it was painful, more uncomfortable to be lying down. I wanted to be upright.

These continued so at about 10:30pm we went downstairs to the living room and started watching a film (Pitch Perfect 2). This didn't last long as my surges started to increase in intensity and I found it hard to focus on the film. I wanted to be in a soothing environment with calming music. At this point we lit a fire and candles around the room creating a very calm and cosy environment where we proceeded to spend the night.

Lucinda’s birth of Tatiana – positively hypnobirthing through complications and Group B Strep.

Rory & I wanted to let you know that we welcomed Tatiana on Tuesday 14th at 10pm. She is beautiful and we are feeling extremely blessed. We are both in very good health and returned home yesterday.

I went into labour at 7pm on Monday, my due date! We walked home from Paddington to Barons Court after my 40 week hospital appointment, I guess she thought she’d had enough! Haha! (Funnily they offered me a sweep during the appointment which I politely declined, so impatient!!!!!!!)

I found the mucus show when I went to the loo very clearly around 7pm then again at 9pm with some light (what I now know were) surges. We prepared the bag and clothes ready to go and went to bed to try and rest.
