Nobody needs flowers (although they can be very nice they equally require time and organisation, which a new mum simply doesn’t have), or more baby clothes (unless requested, but most mums have already bought loads!) or a visitor to just sit there cooing at the baby and waiting to be served a cup of tea! (awful! awful!!)

Get up and get helping. Post birth can be the most difficult time for new mums - let's have their backs.
